History

Halifax Bombers
Halifax Bombers were based at RAF Snaith throughout the second world war and conducted multiple German bombing runs with 51 Squadron RAF.
The Halifax B Mk II Series 1A shown in the picture, being loaded with 500 lb medium capacity bombs and incendiaries at RAF Snaith, in preparation for a night raid on Germany.
The first night of WWII
While not based at RAF Snaith at the time, 51 Squadron dropped Airborne Leaflet Propaganda over Germany, on the very first night of the second world war, using the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley bomber.
